*dared* to say that they would disqualify the
clergy. The whole speech, containing other most
offensive expressions, was delivered in a tone of
the utmost and most indecorous violence. Several
of the Keys had come wearied out with contest,
and disposed to concede the unimportant
point in question: but on their withdrawing, they
determined, as might be expected, not to yield
to such outrage as this: they borrowed his
Grace's words, and shortly told him, they *dared*
to adhere to their former "resolutions." The
Court was dismissed with violent anger. His
Grace denied the fact of his employing the word
"dared;" and speedily after left the island.

The Members of the Court were re-assembled
by the Lieutenant-Governor on the subject of
the re-appointment of this Committee (which
became urgent and indispensable) within a short
time after his Grace's departure. An arrange-
ment was effected immediately, and without
difficulty.

His Grace's threat on this occasion, reiterated
on several others, to complain to His Majesty's
Government of the Keys, they ardently wished
him to execute. Whether he has yet taken this
step, to which he was committed by so many
public declarations; and if so, with what acts or
defaults he charges them; they have no access
