Sir

The Commiſsioners having directed the
Collector and Comptroller of Carlisle, to
make a strict enquiry into the State of the
Smuggling Trade carried on between the Isle
of Man, and Great Britain, and to endeavour
to procure as Exact Accounts as poſsible of
the several kinds of Goods Imported into
the said Island, and of the Duties payable
to the Proprietor for the same; And they
having received their return dated the
8^th Instant. – The Commiſsioners direct
me to send You inclosed a Copy thereof, –
and to desire You will be pleased to lay
the same before the Lords Commiſsioners
of his Majesty's Treasury for their Information
I am, with great respect, (in the Secretary's
absence)
