The expence of that Corps would in a very
considerable degree go to ~~su~~ support Two more
companies to the present Regiment of Fencibles
and give to Government an Efficient controllable
Military Force.

Of their use in case of Riot or Tumult
which appears to be the only case in which their
services might be called for. It is to be
observed that when, in the course of last Summer
an unfortunate Riot took place in the Town
of Douglas and the civil Magistrate called
out the Military to quell it. Most of the Violent
offenders who were taken up and committed to
Castle Rushen were Volunteers.

It may be further necessary to observe
upon two points which are materially connected
with the present Regiment. First the reflections
upon their discipline, and 2^d. The occasion of
the failure of the object of raising the 4 last
augmentation companies by an efficient
volunteering for the Line

To the first point. a Reference is only
necessary to the Reports by the Inspecting
Field officer. to the Adjutant General; and
to the Governor in Chief and L^t Governor who
from time to time have Reviewed the
Regiment
