Cap. 46.
the Perſon or Perſons demanding ſuch Permit as afore=
ſaid, and whatever Exceſs ſhall be found, ſuch Exceſs ſhall
be ſeized and forfeited.

XVIII. And, to the Intent that the Officers of Exciſe [margin: Officers, Once in 30 Days, to take an Account of the Stock of all Diſtillers for Home Conſumption, and of the raw Stock of Dealers:]
may the better guard againſt and diſcover any illicit
Practices for evading the Duties upon Worts, Waſh, and
other Liquors, granted by this Act, be it further enacted,
That the Officers of Exciſe ſhall, within Thirty Days
after the Day of the paſſing of this Act, and ſo after=
wards once in every Thirty Days at the leaſt, and of=
tener when Occaſion ſhall require, or when directed by
any Principal or General Officer of Exciſe, or by the
Surveyor or Superviſor of the Diſtrict, take an Account
of the Stock of all Diſtillers and Makers of Britiſh Spi=
rits for Home Conſumption, and alſo of the raw or un=
rectified Stock of all Dealers in Spirits for Home Con=
ſumption, (ſuch Diſtillers, Makers, or Dealers, not being
actual Rectifiers or Compounders of Spirits) ; and if, on
taking the ſame, the Quantity of Spirits in Stock, added
to the Quantity for which Permits ſhall have been granted
ſince the laſt Reckoning, ſhall be found to exceed the Stock
left in Hand on the laſt Reckoning, added to the Quan=
tity ſince legally made or received by Permit (ſuch Stock
being caſt or computed at the Strength of One to Ten
over Hydrometer Proof), the Quantity of Spirits ſo
found in Exceſs ſhall be ſeized, loſt, and forfeited.

XIX. And be it further enacted, That within Thirty [margin: And alſo of the raw Stock of Rectifiers and Com= pounders, and of their Com= pounds, &c.]
Days next after the paſſing of this Act, and afterwards
Once in every Thirty Days at the leaſt, the Officers of
Exciſe ſhall alſo take an Account of the raw or unrectified
Stock of every Rectifier or Compounder of Spirits,
whether he be a Maker or not, and alſo of his Stock of
all Compounds, Britiſh Brandy, or other Britiſh Spi=
rits; and if on taking ſuch Account, the Stocks ſo taken,
added to the Quantity of Spirits for which Permits
ſhall have been drawn by ſuch Rectifier or Compounder
ſince the laſt Reckoning, ſhall be found to exceed the former
Stock, and the Quantity ſince made or received by Per=
mit, with the Allowance of Forty Gallons as aforeſaid
on every One hundred Gallons ſo made or received (caſt=
