Ballabooie Flint Scatter
Archaeology
Large quantities of Mesolithic 'Bann' flints were found in this area, mainly from the head of the stream, Bwilley Mooar, in the fields numbered 507, 508 and 511 on the 1869 1:2500 scale Ordnance Survey map. The several hundred worked flints seem to indicate that there was some considerable Bann occupation of the area. More flints found at Ballakaighen are apparently a continuation of this site.
