A post-medieval church. This is St Mary's, Ballaugh's parish church, built to replace the older St Mary de Ballaugh church at the Cronk as the village population grew. Following an April 1830 vestry meeting decision to build "a new, and larger, church nearer the village," Bishop Ward laid the foundation stone and contributed funds he had collected in England; the church, designed by architect John Welch, was consecrated by Bishop Ward on 27 September 1832 at a total cost of £1714.
