The Devil's Elbow is a hairpin bend on the A4 coast road between Peel and Kirk Michael, in the parish of German, where the road crosses Glion Cam ('winding glen'), a small wooded former-quarry glen between Lower Ballakaighen and Skerrisdale Moar, at about 416 feet above sea level. It was the 9th-milestone landmark on the St John's Short Course used for the first four TT meetings (1907-1910), and it was here, on lap 7 of the 1907 Isle of Man TT, that Rem Fowler crashed at nearly 60 mph after a tyre burst; he remounted, was told by a spectator he still led the twin-cylinder class by 30 minutes, and went on to win. The same bend had earlier featured in the 'Peel Loop' of the Gordon Bennett-era Highland Course car trials (1905-1907).
