Captain John Quilliam, Manx Royal Navy officer who served under Nelson at Trafalgar, is buried in Kirk Arbory churchyard, Ballabeg, where his headstone inscription (quoted in the existing Omeka item) records that by the example of Duncan and Nelson he learned to conquer, and by his own merit rose to command.
