Glen Helen carries the course through a sweeping left-hander and then uphill towards Sarah's Cottage and Creg Willey's Hill, around the 9.6 to 9.9-mile mark. It holds a somber distinction in TT history: the course's first-ever fatality occurred near here when Victor Surridge crashed heavily and died during practice for the 1911 TT, the race's inaugural year on the Mountain Course.
