Quarry Bends, around 18.46 miles, is a complex of curves that owes its name to a small railway siding built in 1879 off the Manx Northern Railway, which crossed the road here at a spot then called Close e Volley to serve Clarke's stone quarry at Ballavolley. The crossing point was later renamed Quarry Bends, and the road here was re-profiled and widened during the winter of 1987 as part of ongoing course safety works.
