The Verandah is a stretch of four bends on the A18 Mountain Road at roughly 1,300 feet of elevation, around the 29.8-mile point of the TT course, where the road runs along a relatively flat shelf cut into the mountainside before reaching The Bungalow, with a steep drop-off on the left. It has twice been the site of fatal accidents: former winner Syd Crabtree went off the edge in fog during the 1934 Lightweight race and was killed, and Italian rider Gilberto Parlotti, then leading the 1972 125cc TT, died here in a crash that is widely credited with hastening the end of the TT's world championship status.
