Brandywell is a left-hand curve on the A18 Mountain Road near its junction with the B10, around the 31.65-mile mark. The name is said to come from a nearby well historically used by shepherds when branding and sorting sheep grazing the mountain. A stone shelter and an Isle of Man Department of Transport weather station stand at the corner today.
