Solomons Corner The Quay Castletown Isle Of Man IM9 1LD
Place
Solomons Corner stands where The Quay meets Quay Lane in Castletown's harbourside. According to local historian William Henry Cooper's account, the building was occupied by the Manx Steam Trading Company as a warehouse operation before it was sold to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company in 1912, a sale that included the cargo steamer Tyrconnel, which continued sailing under Captain Willie Collister until his retirement in 1930. The corner building is a reminder of Castletown's working harbour trade in the age of steam shipping.
