This is the retained frontage of the former Strand Cinema on Strand Street, Douglas's main shopping street. The Strand Cinema opened in 1913 and was the first purpose-built cinema on the Isle of Man. The building behind the facade was demolished in 1998, but the historic street frontage was preserved and now stands as the visible remnant of the Island's earliest dedicated picture house.
