Douglas Town Hall, at the junction of Ridgeway Street and Prospect Hill, was completed in 1900 to a Renaissance Revival design by the London architects Ardron & Dawson, built by Gradwell and Co. of Barrow-in-Furness at a cost of £25,708 and formally opened on 10 May 1900 by Mayor Alderman Samuel Webb. It was commissioned after the Douglas Municipal Corporation Act of 1895 created an elected town council, replacing an earlier town hall in St Barnabas Square, and it combines the council offices with a public library and the former fire brigade offices under one roof. Its council chamber, 47 feet long by 32 feet wide, has an ornate arched ceiling designed by Warings of London. Following Douglas's elevation to city status in 2022, the building became Douglas City Hall, and Queen Camilla visited on 20 March 2024 to formally mark the change.
