St Ninian's Church on Ballaquayle Road was built on land given, and paid for, by the philanthropist Henry Noble, and dedicated to St Ninian in tribute to Noble's Cumbrian roots; he was born at Clifton in Cumbria, a county long associated with that saint. Designed in the Gothic Revival style by the London architect W. D. Caröe, with the building work carried out by R. Costain and Sons of Blundellsands, the church was erected in 1913 and consecrated on 25 March 1914 by the Bishop of Sodor and Man, Dr Denton Thompson. It is a substantial building, 140 feet long and 63 feet across the transepts, with an 85-foot tower, and a parish hall was added to the site in 1930, built of artificial stone by Messrs Callow and Sons of Douglas.
