The Ornamental Gateway on Marine Drive, Port Soderick, is the surviving castellated entrance to the Marine Drive, the scenic clifftop road and tramway route built to link Douglas Head with Port Soderick from 1896. It stands as one of the few architectural remnants of the Victorian-era Marine Drive scheme, most of which, including its tramway, was dismantled by the mid-1950s after wartime closure.
