Yn Thie Thooit ("the thatched house" in Manx) is a genuine Manx thatched cottage at Lhen Bridge, one of only around 23 surviving examples of traditional thatch on the Island. It came into the ownership of Manx National Heritage in 1989 through a bequest from Catherine Craine Guyler, a former Home Economics teacher at Ramsey Grammar School and chairwoman of the Isle of Man Federation of the Women's Institute, who had originally bought the property for £175 in 1961. Set on the beachside at The Lhen, close to Lhen beach and the Cronk y Bing nature reserve, it once stood near the popular Lhen Bridge Café, remembered locally for its homemade bread and cakes. MNH now lets the cottage as a four-star self-catering holiday cottage, managed on its behalf by Island Escapes.
