Kate's Cottage Mountain Road Creg Ny Baa Onchan Douglas IM4 5BP
Place
Kate's Cottage stands on the Mountain Road near Creg-ny-Baa, close to the 34th Milestone on the famous TT Mountain Course. Built between 1864 and 1866 as a shepherd's cottage on the newly constructed mountain highroad of that period, it takes its name from a former occupant. The stretch of road past the cottage was rebuilt in 1892–93 and modified again in 1922, and the cottage has since become one of the most recognised landmarks on the 37.73-mile TT Mountain Course, used for the Isle of Man TT races since 1911 and the Manx Grand Prix since 1923, with the tight left-hand bend beside it now bearing its name.
