Santon Parish Church Church Road Santon IM4 1EZ

Place

Santon Parish Church on Church Road is dedicated to St Sanctain and stands on the site of an ancient chapel believed to date back some 1,500 years, making it one of the oldest recorded places of Christian worship in the parish. For a period during the seventeenth century the dedication was mistakenly recorded as "St Ann," an error that was only officially corrected back to St Sanctain in 1891. The church remains the principal place of worship for the small rural parish of Santon.
