The Lifeboat House The Quay Castletown IM9 1LD

Place

The Lifeboat House on The Quay served Castletown's Royal National Lifeboat Institution station until it closed in 1922, after which the neighbouring Douglas and Port St Mary lifeboats took over coverage of this stretch of the south coast. The former lifeboat house survives on the harbourfront as a reminder of the town's earlier role in the Island's maritime rescue service.
