The building on Glen Falcon Road stands on the site of the old Falcon Steam Brewery, built in 1874 by Dr William Okell, who had begun brewing on the Island in 1850 and successfully lobbied Tynwald to pass the Brewers' Act 1874 to guarantee the purity of Manx-brewed beer. It operated as a working brewery for over a century before the island's breweries consolidated in the 1980s.
