This building was constructed in 1890 as the Methodist New Connexion chapel on Derby Road, designed by J.W. Firth of Oldham and built by William Kelly of Douglas in a Gothic style faced with Glenfaba brick relieved by Ruabon brick and terracotta, with stone tracery windows and a spire, seating around 500 worshippers. The chapel closed in 1914 and was sold to St Thomas's Church for use as a church hall, later becoming a Red Cross centre that operated until 2008. In July 2011 the Manx National Youth Band purchased the building, converting the ground floor into a permanent rehearsal venue with the upper floor made available to other musical and cultural groups.
