Fog Horn Point Of Ayre Cranstal Bride Isle Of Man IM7 4BS
Place
This fog horn station at the Point of Ayre, Cranstal, was part of the warning system that helped guide shipping around the treacherous sandbanks at the Isle of Man's northern tip. Like fog signals at many British and Manx lighthouse stations, it was decommissioned, in this case in August 2005, once modern GPS and shipping guidance systems made audible fog signals largely unnecessary for navigation.
