The Victoria Clock Tower on Mines Road, Foxdale, stands 40 feet tall and was built by the Isle of Man Mining Company, which by the late nineteenth century had consolidated control of the area's many lead, zinc and silver workings. It was designed by mine engineer John Nicholls and formally dedicated on 16 May 1901, an occasion of great civic pride for the mining village. The tower remains Foxdale's most recognisable landmark, a lasting monument to the mining industry that shaped the village before the mines closed in 1911.
