This is a K6 telephone kiosk, the classic red cast-iron design created in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to mark the Silver Jubilee of King George V. It went into production in 1936 and became the first red telephone box design used widely outside London, valued for being cheaper to produce and more compact on the pavement than its predecessor, the K2. Distinguishing features include its eight-row glazing pattern and an embossed crown motif above the door. No history specific to this individual kiosk on Shore Road, Port Erin, was found beyond its inclusion on the Registered Buildings list.
