This K6 telephone kiosk stands in Cregneash, the small crofting village in the island's far south-west that is now home to Manx National Heritage's open-air Cregneash Folk Village Museum, which opened in 1938 and preserves the look of a nineteenth-century Manx settlement. The kiosk is an example of the classic cast-iron red telephone box designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and rolled out from 1936 to mark King George V's Silver Jubilee, and it sits alongside the village's thatched cottages as one of the few visibly twentieth-century additions to this otherwise carefully preserved historic streetscape.
