Onchan Parish War Memorial commemorates parishioners lost in the First World War; it was designed by the celebrated Manx artist Archibald Knox, with a wheel cross and Celtic interlace pattern echoing a cross in St Peter's Church, and carved by the Douglas mason T.S. Quayle from a block of Irish limestone set into a five-ton glacially-borne Scottish granite boulder. The land at the junction of Church Avenue and Main Road was donated by the trustees of the late James Spittall, and the memorial was unveiled on 16 November 1924 by Mr and Mrs R.M. Broadbent before the Lieutenant Governor. A Second World War memorial tablet, designed by Wilfred T. Quayle, was later added, and road-widening in the early 1980s saw the whole memorial relocated to its present site near Elm Tree House in 1982. It was formally registered as a protected building on 7 July 2021.
