This Victorian signal box at Douglas station was built in 1892 and originally stood at the station throat between the carriage shed and workshops, fitted with a 36-lever frame made by Dutton & Co. of Worcester whose distinctive "drink-handle" lever design is now unique among survivors of its type. It went out of routine use in 1970 and was fully decommissioned by 1979-80, then physically relocated in 1998 to make way for the new transport headquarters and bus garages built on the site as Banks Circus. It is largely unused today but is opened occasionally during transport festivals, staffed by volunteers who keep its mechanical signalling equipment demonstrable to visitors.
