Henry Bloom Noble

Person

Henry Bloom Noble (18 June 1816 - 2 May 1903) was a wine and spirits merchant who moved to Douglas as a young man and became the wealthiest resident of the Isle of Man by the time of his death. Living unostentatiously despite his fortune, he bequeathed the bulk of his estate to Manx civic causes, funding Noble's Isle of Man Hospital, Noble's Park, Ramsey Cottage Hospital and St Ninian's Church in Douglas; his former residence, Villa Marina, later became a public entertainment venue.
