Tehi Tegi ('beautiful gatherer') is a figure from Manx folklore, an enchantress said to have lured the men of the Island away from their farms and families with her beauty before drowning them or otherwise bringing about their ruin, then escaping as a wren (in some tellings, banished by the sea-god Manannan). Her legend is the traditional origin story given for 'Hunt the Wren', the Manx custom performed every 26 December in which the wren is hunted and paraded, treated in local tradition as though describing a real, if ancient, historical episode.
