Peter Buckley (2 August 1944 - 4 July 1969) was a Manx and British racing cyclist, born in Douglas, who won the gold medal in the road race at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica, representing the Isle of Man. His promising career was cut short at 24 when he suffered fatal head injuries in a training accident near Hebden Bridge after his bicycle struck a loose dog; the annual Peter Buckley Trophy, awarded to the winner of the British junior national road race series, commemorates him.
