Maughold Head

Place

Maughold Head is a high headland at the southern end of Ramsey Bay on the island's east coast, topped by a lighthouse designed by David A. and Charles Stevenson and first lit in 1914. The 23-metre tower, automated in 1993, has a focal height of 65 metres and a range of 15 nautical miles, warning ships away from the steep cliffs below. The headland is reachable on foot from a small clifftop car park, though visitors are warned to keep well back from the drops.
