A small harbour at the mouth of the Laxey River, built in the 1850s specifically to service the nearby Great Laxey Mine, one of the most productive lead, zinc and silver mines on the island. Ore was carried by horse tramway down Glen Road to the harbour for shipment to smelting works in Wales. Mining at Laxey ceased around 1934, and the harbour is now used mainly by leisure craft and small inshore fishing boats.
