St Adamnan's, known as Lonan Old Church and originally Keeill ny-Traie ('the chapel by the shore') in Manx, stands on the east coast between Groudle Glen and Baldrine, its churchyard holding a collection of carved crosses that Manx National Heritage dates to the 7th-10th centuries. Following a 1733 parish petition to Bishop Wilson, a new church was built in 1833 and the old church was left to fall into disrepair; it was restored from 1895 by vicar John Quine on his appointment, and is maintained today by the Friends of St Adamnan's, formed in 1968.
