Milner's Tower stands on Bradda Head above Port Erin, built in 1871 in memory of William Milner, a safe-maker born in Sheffield who ran his business in Liverpool before retiring to the village and became a noted local philanthropist, funding charities for poverty-stricken fishermen. Unusually, the tower's plan is shaped like a key and lock in tribute to Milner's safemaking trade, and although it was intended as a surprise memorial he learned of the project and personally contributed to its construction costs. St Catherine's Church in Port Erin, funded by a bequest from Milner, is a companion memorial to the village he supported.
