William Callow of Cloughbane, member of the House of Keys and High Bailiff of Castletown.

He was one of seventeen named Manx merchants who signed a petition to the Governor in 1769 setting out the economic devastation the Revestment of 1765 had caused.

He sat in the Keys from 1767, and the list of the House printed in 1798 gives him as William Callow, Esquire, of Cloughbane, second in seniority only to the Speaker John Taubman. The survey of the principal estates made in the same year puts him at Cloughbane in Maughold, with Mrs D. Callow at Ballakilly and a Mr G. Callow at Ballaglass in the same parish.

He served as High Bailiff of Castletown and of the district belonging to it. In that character he took the deposition of an officer of the port of Derbyhaven about a ship wrecked on the coast overnight, in which the captain and all the crew perished and nothing was saved alive but one dog.
