Thomas Radcliffe, merchant and member of the House of Keys.

He was one of seventeen named Manx merchants who signed a petition to the Governor in 1769 setting out the economic devastation the Revestment of 1765 had caused.

He sat in the Keys through the years that followed, and his signature stands on the Acts promulgated at Tynwald beside those of the Taubmans, the Christians, the Moores and Thomas Gawne. The survey of the principal estates made in 1798 puts a Mr T. Radcliffe at Gourdon in Kirk Patrick.

The family had been in the Island's service well before him. Samuel Radcliffe of Gourdon was Captain of the parish company of Kirk Patrick in 1651, and was examined in the inquiry into the rising: he said he had never known of the country rising until the head or great court day, and he was among those who gave evidence about the design to surprise Castle Rushen.
