This modern footbridge spans the Silver Burn and provides access between Hope Street and Victoria Road. It is locally known as the Apostles' Bridge, on account of its multiple piers: according to local tradition, a chemist who watched it being built and was told it would have twelve piers remarked "ah, I see - the Apostles' Bridge, leading on to Paradise" - a reference both to the twelve piers and to "Paradise", the nearby area between Malew Street and Mill Street, itself said to be named after a couple named Saint who were once seen strolling there.
