The site of a 19th century lead mine, part of the wider Beckwith's Mine workings on the northern slopes of South Barrule in Glen Rushen. Lead was first discovered here in 1831 when a hay cart uncovered a lump of ore; the site was then worked by the Isle of Man Mining Company from 1830 until 1879. The main engine shaft eventually reached about 1,100 feet, well below sea level, and surviving surface remains at the wider site include washing floors with circular buddles, leats and dams, engine shafts, a powder house and crushing plant.
