This slab was found in 1941 at a chapel site at Speke (IOMHER 0699.00). It is a complete slab bearing at the head an equal-armed cross set in a roughly circular frame. The incised cross was discovered by an Officer Cadet Training party who were camping at the Speke Keeill site in 1941, making it the earliest of the several inscribed slabs recovered from this early Christian chapel and burial ground on Mount Murray Golf Club land, Braddan (near the Speke Lane boundary, extending onto Speke Farm). It is distinct from a second, round-headed slab (Manx Cross 189) found at the site in 1981 and later recovered during the Time Team/Wessex Archaeology excavation in 2006, and from an Ogham-inscribed stone (Manx Cross 205, dated 8th-12th century, reading "BAC OCOICAT IALL") also found during that 2006 excavation.
