Lhergyrhenny Shieling Mound

Archaeology

One of a pair of mounds which have been described as possible medieval shieling mounds, but have also been interpreted as possible Bronze Age funerary barrows.

It appears to be a ditchless turf covered mound with a diameter of 9.0 metres and height of 0.4 or 0.5 metres.  It is well preserved.

It may be one of a pair of shieling mounds PRN 0448.00 recorded by P.S. Gelling.
