The Sandygate Methodist Chapel was first built in 1822 and was rebuilt in its present form and is shown on the 1869 1:2500 scale Ordnance Survey map. It still stands intact and remained open in 2021. The original chapel (grid reference SC375974) was built on land sold by Thomas Kelly Snr of Doolagh to five trustees in June 1822, the deed stipulating a school and preaching house "for the use and benefit of Several Farmers and Tennants and adjoining Neighbours." The 1851 Religious Census recorded the chapel seating 150 and also used for a day school; its Sunday School, begun in 1822, then had 80 scholars and 33 teachers under secretary Robert Kneale, with average attendance of 80 at afternoon and 100 at evening services. The chapel was rebuilt during 1862-1863, an account book of the rebuilding being preserved by the Manx Museum.
