Douglas printer and newspaper proprietor associated with Mona’s Herald and a wide range of nineteenth-century Manx publications.

The first number of Mona’s Herald appeared on 3 August 1833. The Manx Society bibliography records it as printed by William Walls of New Bond Street and Robert Fargher of Atholl Street and published from the Herald Office and General Printing Establishment in New Bond Street Lane.

Fargher’s press subsequently produced political, religious and public material. In 1837 Walls and Fargher printed Sir William Hillary’s Observations on the proposed Changes in the Fiscal and Navigation Laws of the Isle of Man. By 1842 works were appearing under Robert Fargher’s name alone at the Mona’s Herald Office, including Hillary’s letter and proceedings concerning preservation of life from shipwreck and the proposed harbour of refuge at Douglas.

The press also printed sermons, pamphlets and controversial material. The Manx Society bibliography lists publications from A. Fargher and Co. and Robert Fargher across the 1840s and 1850s, including religious works and Eye-Salve for the Wesleyans of Mona in 1850.
