Ballaoates Corn Mill
Archaeology
Modern watermill.
The Ordnance Survey 1:2500 First Edition mapping of 1867-8 depicts a watermill at this location, annotated 'Woodside Mill (Paper)'.
The paper mill was bought by Charles Litt in 1885. His family ran a tannery in Douglas, and the site was developed for rendering animal carcasses and processing animal waste. The operation ceased in the 1990s.
