Parish in the south of the Isle of Man, containing Castletown, Ballasalla, Ronaldsway and Rushen Abbey.

Kirk Malew occupies much of the low ground around Castletown and the Silverburn. The parish church stands inland from the town and contains memorials to several families prominent in Manx political and social history.

The parish register preserves unusually important evidence for the seventeenth century. On 31 August 1654 William Kewish and Robert Callow of Kirk Maughold were executed at Hango Hill for murder and afterwards buried at Malew, in the way down from the church porch.

The same register records the execution of William Christian, Illiam Dhone. Christian was shot at Hango Hill on 2 January 1663. The entry states that he died penitently and courageously, prayed earnestly and made a speech before his death. He was buried the next day in the chancel of Kirk Malew.

The parish also contained Rushen Abbey at Ballasalla. The abbey, its estates and the Silverburn occupied a substantial part of the landscape between the parish church and Castletown.

Ronaldsway and Derbyhaven gave Malew a maritime as well as an agricultural character. The sheltered bay served as one of the principal southern anchorages, while Hango Hill and St Michael's Isle formed part of the defensive approaches to Castletown.
