He added a boathouse and a dock to the Bridge House property and commissioned the boat, which survives as a rare eighteenth-century Manx vessel and is listed in the National Historic Fleet. The family papers accumulated at Bridge House were deposited in the Manx Museum between 1933 and 1941, and they carry the family's involvement in the politics, military affairs and economic life of the Island.
